I'm sorry but I think these questions are silly! Blonde, brown, black, red. Why does one have to be better or prettier than the other? Just doesn't make sense to me and what difference does it make, what I think is better or you think is better. There is no correct answer!
I think your natural color is nicer. I am a brunette and not too long a go I highlighted my hair. I learned that I liked my natural colour (I hated the highlights) and I should not try to do anything to change myself because I was happier before I did anything to it. Hope I helped!

I use to dye my hair very dark, and my natural color is fairly light. People said it looked very striking. Dark hair has a earth mother, no nonsense look about it, where as blonde hair has a more fragile look. So, it's subjective -- be it blonde, ginger, auburn, brown, or black -- everyone has a different preference.

From the Pantene or John Freida drugstore brands (I prefer Pantene) they have color enhancing shampoo, conditioner, and hair lotion. It really does make a difference. They have it for blondes, brunettes, redheads, and black hair.
Go out in the sun a lot.
I use Pantene Conditioner in my hair and that after I wash that out in the shower I put in John Frieda color enhancing... after bout 2-3 weeks your hair will start getting lighter and lighter. Aldo squezze a lemon in your hair let it be i your hair for about 5 minuts then go into the shower and ash it out... this all makes your hair lighter
instead of rinsing the shampoo with water rinse it with real lemon juice the go out to the sun! walla it helps i always use it

Hmm, you cant really do much with out dye. However you can try the old lemon trick. Just take a bit of lemon juice and run it threw your hair before you go out in the sun. It will dry your hair out a little though, but will make it allot lighter! You can also try buying one of those color enhancing hair shampoo's that help keep your hair shiny and bright. I have naturally blonde hair myself and i use Sun silk color boost for blonde hair. It actually makes my hair lighter and helps it shine in the sun!

well i have naturally brown hair and i got blonde highlights 2 times buts its do damage at all.when i got my 1st highlights nothing happened cause they put color but then my second time they used bleach NOT color so now my hair has been dried out since.but if u get highlights tell them to use color

Black is a very difficult color to work with and remove.
Even if you try to reverse it, it will not only weaken your hair or cause breakage, but you could get a decidely blue shade to your blonde hair and no, it will not reverse to your own color.
Here's my suggestion: Snip a small sample of hair from the nape of your neck and color it black. Lay it on your forehead after it is processed and dry to see if you like it. If you don't no harm done. But if you do then you will have to wait until the black grows out to get the true blonde back.
I've done this before. To tell you the truth, when I dyed it black, it never went back to being as light of a blonde as I wanted. I dyed it black first; I wasn't happy with it, so I had to dye it a medium to light brown, and then three months later dye it back to a dark blonde. I wished I never dyed it black in the first place...
So unless you are 100% sure it will look good on you, don't waste your time.
U should dye ur hair a lighter color
Hi there. Use a semi permanent color (level 2). Don't use a level 3. Blonde is very hard to get (must bleach hair) after you dye your hair black. It can be done, but your hair is going to feel like straw afterwards. I went dark black from blonde and loved it! Now I have the salon dye it darkest brown and put a mahongany red gloss over the top at the bowl. My hair looks dark in the shade and red in the sun. Love it!
do not try because once u do it the blue dye will sink into your roots and if you dye it back you will have blond hair and blue roots do you want to look like that...... i don't think so

Ok first what happens is this: Dying hair darker with permanent hair color actually chemically changes your hair. You will need red pigment in your hair to prevent it from going green, then add the blue black color. Red pigment is not in blond hair, but is in darker hair.
What you need to understand is that going the other direction is difficult. You will need to bleach your hair or let it grow out. Red pigment is the smallest color in any hair and difficult to remove. Bleaching dark to light uses stronger peroxide and can probably damage your hair and make it become jelly.
I actually do not recommend lightening dark hair to light at all, it just does not look right, and it may go orange. The orange will have traces of red pigment, and lightening more to get rid of it can damage your hair.
However if you do want to try blue black, try semi permanent which does not chemically change your hair. You may need to have your hair red semi-permanent first, then apply the blue black color. Semi permanents wash out after about 6 to 8 washes, depending on your hair.
A safer way is to go to a wig shop and try on a wig (but don't buy it) to see what blue black looks like on you. This way you can decide whether to have color or not.
I recommend that you let a hairdresser do it to get the best results, after that it should be OK to do it on your own, just watch what they do to study the process.

if u do color it you will have a huge problem with your roots, and it will cost about 80-150 dollars every time its done, and you will have to go in at least every 3-6 weeks to get it touched up
Its impossible to go that light-- from a dark color, you would have to take it in stages.
it would probly take about two-three months to get it that color, and thats working with it consistantly.
dont try it yourself. go to a hair dresser.
i honeslty dont think its a good idea, because even after you get it done you going to have to keep going and getting it tocuhed back up, because your roots will be showing, and all that to your hair is alot of damange.

if you have dark hair, the bleach will be very harsh on your hair. You will have to use a violet toning shampoo and conditioner because the blonde oxidises and it gets brassy. You may need to bleach your hair numerous times to get it that light, and you will need to re-dye it after bleaching with a demi-permanent colour with a violet base to counteract the yellow. Also keep in mind the amount of time and money you will spend on root touch ups; with dark hair you will notice roots very soon and will need to keep up with the colour on a regular basis. But, if you're willing to spend time and money and are serious about it, go for it! Be sure to go to a salon, it would be impossible to do at home.
Going from dark to light is always damaging to your hair as its strips the hair of its colour. The process will take a while as salon stylists will not recommend doing it all in one day because of the damage it is going to do. They will start by lightening your hair and it because of its colour, it will end up a bright orange. But once they proceed to finnish lightening it you will have the white blonde.
No offense, but don't dye your hair that blonde. Her hair is so blonde that it is almost white, and white hair is associated with older folk. When I was smaller my hair was almost bleached blonde it was very light. But over the years it got darker and darker and in the winter it looks almost completely brown and in the summer it gets blonder with some very light streaks in it due to the sun bleaching it. I don't color my hair at all and never have.

People spend a lot of money to get hair like yours. If people are teasing you, it's because they're jealous. You have to own that hair, and get a fabulous cut to show it off.
I do understand how hard it can be to have such a distinctive color, however. The salon clients who most want to change their hair color are those with beautiful blonde, red, or jet black hair because they're so sick of people commenting on it. You can find a stylist who will put a golden or beige demi-permanent glaze on it which will give it a beautiful (and different) tone and tremendous shine. Good Luck!
My mother's hair is the exact same color. I'm guessing that where you are, the population is darker. She got the same reaction when she moved to Connecticut (a lot of Southern Italians here with darker skin and hair than I, a Native American, have.) Just explain that's how people look in the part of the world your family comes from, and if they have anything else to say, tell them it's racist.
The reason most insist on the idea you bleached it is because that color is extremely rare--so much so that most people go their entire lives without seeing a natural example of it. My mother and aunt are two. so I know it happens naturally.

My cousin has the same situation. Just know that those people are probably jealous. You should carry a picture of yourself as a child and show your insisters that your hair has always been that color. People always demand to know where I get my hair highlighted. I'm biased, but I've been both. I like the red better. The attention you get is more serious and more intense. The kind of men who approach me seem to have a lot more class and treat me as a lady.
Having said that, I'm married, so I don't give them the time of day either way...it's just an observation.
I think the red would look really good with your complexion and red is not a common color so you will stand out.
I recommend you find some photo editing program like GIMP, or get the free version of Photoshop and change your hair colour and see which you prefer. But I would go red because my aunt has red and it is SO cool. People do make blonde jokes (not that I do) so I would do red.

Ok so in my title it says what i have. I bleached my hair yes and PLEASE no salon suggestions. I was thinking about using manic panic virgin snow toner and shimmer lights shampoo to get my hair to what i want. It really isn't really dark but it is just darkish orange, orange, pale pink with some blonde in the front. And i don't want to look stupid like i do now and i really really really want platinum blonde hair. Will this work, what i'm trying to do?
If your hair is bleached the blonde parts will take up that dye your talking about but all the pink and orange will not because its just a color coat, you would need to bleach your hair again
I use to have bleached blonde hair that I dyed pink and when I tryed to bleach it blonde again it washed out all the cuticle in my hair so it became just like jelly and fell out!
Your best bet is to either let it just grow out or to dye it a darker color I would say a brown/red because of all the pink and orange
TO get a white colour you are best bleaching to a pale lemon colour and then using a toner to remove the yellow tones from the hair and bring it down to white. Using the colour wheel theory lilac toners remove yellow tones (these are also often called white toners). Special Effects and Manic Panic both make a good lilac toner. You could then either leave your hair the white colour or use a different vegetable dye such as Crazy Color Platinum or STargazer White to get the desired shade. These are temp colours so will only last ba few washes or a few weeks depending on the brand/colour used.

Here's my problem. I have very dingy, dishwater blonde hair that is nearly light brown. I had professional highlights a year ago but just a light job of them. I think they're mostly gone now. I had a perm May 2006. I was going to go to a pro and have my hair dyed this weekend for a big event, however, I was laid off from my job yesterday so clearly I cannot afford color! My hairdresser refuses to give me any suggestions for an over the counter product from Walmart, Sally's or otherwise. I'd be fine with a wash out but she said when you go lighter blonde, many times the washout's never fade and you wind up with a "line" as your hair grows out. Is there anything out there I could buy that won't totally screw up my hair? I would just like to go to a pretty, light blonde. I'm afraid of what sun-in would do to my hair with the old perm in it. I've never tried it before and I'm also worried that I won't know what shade to buy. I'm not really brunette and I'm not really blonde!
Peroxide is good in small doses, but it also tends to make the hair brittle and break easily. I would try a Sally's lightining product b/c most of the hairdressers that work there have used them and would be able to tell you a safe way to apply it. Lemon juice just dries out the scalp and then you get Dandruff really bad. If your going to use peroxide then dilude it by adding it to your shampoo and shampoo twice instead of once... that way it won't hurt your hair as bad.

poor a little peroxide on a comb and run it thru your hair daily, after 3-7 days it will lighten, continue until you get the gradual effect you want.

sun-in is too strong a formula. it turned my hair yellow one summer and then i grew my hair out with that line you talked about. but now i use lemon juice when i go out in the sun, and it is a really mild way to golden up dirty blonde hair (like yours and mine) good luck.
Spray lemon juice on your hair every day and blow dry with hairdryer and then wash and condition hair.
if you go to sally's, they usually have someone working in there who's pretty familiar with professional products. you can do it yourself...i did with products from sally. it turned out pretty good. people thought i had it professionally done. you can do highlights with a cap too. you'll need developer (30 volume for all over color works good) and color-they make developer and color that go together. get a squeeze bottle and mix them in there. use gloves. essentially, you'll be buying everything that comes in a box of color but professional quality and more of it.

i also think the peroxide tip is helpful, i had the same hair type when i was younger
i combed in peroxide and rinsed 10-30 minute later and it got drastically lighter
also used lemon juice and it worked... but i used straight lemon juice not mixed with water and slept on it... repeating the process till my hair was lightenend enough...
dont know how it'll work on permed hair...

If it is damages then hot oil treatments are needed before you attempt to add color. Loreal colors will lighten and in most cases look natural. if you want to go darker you can try a semi permanent colour you can get really great results and its quite cheap to have done even in a salon

yes you can dye your hair brown. It will not turn green. Make sure you choose a natural color. You should go to a salon to get this done if you want it done correctly. They will know what you mean by natural. They have natural, ash and golden shades. Go with the natural. Make sure you do a deep conditioning treatment after you color your hair and leave it in your hair for 15 minutes under the dryer. Also, get your ends trimmed, it's always good to do that after you color your hair it gives it a little more life. I hope this helps!!

It should be fine to color it, but if you are worried about it, find a salon that specializes in coloring. It might cost more than doing this yourself, but the results will be worth it. I too am sometimes nervous about any changes I make to my hair so I spend the extra money to be safe. My husband thinks I spend too much time being concerned with my hair. It's a girl thing. With all that I have done over the years to my hair, I am surprised that I have any left at all. Hope you have good results with your color.

if you have really light hair you normally have to dye it red 1st then brown ontop to get the colour right or it may go tingy green, if its just parts the brown may look lighter in places and you may need to do it twice. this however weakens your hair. if you go to a hairdresser they can do it right for you but if you do it at home, save some dye to go over lighter areas afterwards
Your hair will only turn green if you put the brown straight over , you need a colour that has a red in it the red will stop your hair from getting a tinge of green in it , get something like a chestnut , (you only see the the red from the chestnut when the light shines on it ) after a few weeks put the chestnut on again after a while the red will start to fade out then the next time you come to do your colour you can just put the brown in ,

A few weeks ago, i bleached my hair blonde on the top. Im not sure if i left it in too long, or too little amount of time. But the blonde came out more goldish than i wanted. I wanted it more not WHITISH but a lighter blonde because now its sort of orangy blonde and only light blonde in certain areas.
Is there a way i can lighten up the color of the blonde without rebleaching my hair again? I dont want to end up making my hair fall off haha

try putting a toner through it, it will give it a boost of colour, are cheap and easy to do plus they are semi-permanent and will fade in a few weeks (but seen as its cheap and easy you can do it again :) ) hope ive helped ya in some way x
well, when it turns out orangy, its probably that you didnt leave the bleach on long enough, or you used too weak cream peroxide. My hair is DARK naturally, I have to use 40 volume peroxide to get it light enough, takes away from the orangeness. If you are going to try lightening it again, you could avoid the powder bleach, and get a pale neutral blonde haircolor in a box, mixed with 40 volume, and use a color brush and put it on here and there.. or use a toothbrush. It should get rid of the orange, and be easier on your hair. The powder bleach is whats hard on hair. good luck
okay, i have long blonde hair, its high-fashion model styled. it goes to the small of my back. im NOT cutting it. i have straight accross bangs, that end just below my eyebrows. my hair DOESNT curl, or wave. it crimps, but thats all. its stick straight. i already put it in a high ponytail, and pigtail braids, messy buns, and leave it down, but can you give me ideas for new hairstyles, or how i can curl/ wave my hair? i have highlights and low lights already

Use a curl enhancing shampoo and conditioner, apply mousse throughout the length of your hair. Use a hairdryer until its about 50% dry. Put it up into sponge curlers. Leave in over night, then remove them in the morning and spritz hair with flexible hold hairspray.
Or, apply a texturizing spray and mousse, dry hair completely and use hot roller, which work in about 10-15 minutes. Finish with hairspray to hold the look in place.
Its much more difficult for all one-length straight hair to hold a curl. I also have long straight hair, and before I got my long layers, my hair didn't hold a curl at all.
my hair is the same way if i need my hair curled or something i use a curling iron, if you have one but, it doesnt work then i would go to your local salon and talk to them about your problem.

Yes, usually. Try some chestnut highlights like I did. It's subtle, but gives a nice change.

My opinion is to do whatever makes you happy. People are gonna talk regardless. If you like it then don't worry about it. I have seen some black/asian girls that look better with the blonde in their hair than some white girls. To me it doesn't matter what people think. It's your hair and if they don't like it then they don't have to look. I say if you are comfortable with it then do it. It has nothing to do with denying your race. That's just riciduolous. i don't really care for blonde hair, but i have seen several asian girls with dark brown hair and blonde highlights and it looked really good on them but they all had really light skin tones. but this asian model i saw had blonde hair and then went back to a dark brown and she was like a mix of philipino, vietanmese and laos, so she was pretty dark and the blonde didn't quite work for her. so i agree on the whole skin tone/hair colour association thing.
It really depends on your skin coloring, eye color and general attitude. Some people can make anything look good, but generally, the darker your coloring, the less likely that light-colored hair will look on you.

The only reason I'm against blonde hair on women of color is because it doesn't look natural. I mean some ppl dye their hair purple and green, and certainly those colors aren't natural- but because it's impossible to be born with hair in those crazy colors-they're obviously not trying to pass it off as natural, they're just being 'creative' or 'edgy'. But when u dye Ur hair blonde, it閳ユ獨 like saying that Ur natural darker hair isn't beautiful. But if u can find a shade of blonde that doesn't wash u out, go for it, don't worry about other ppl. I think that black women look ridiculous with blonde hair. Black people were all meant to have dark hair and dark eyes and anything else on them just looks out of place. And dont even get me started on black people that wear blue and green eye contacts. I mean why go through the trouble of putting some piece of glass or whatever contacts are made of in your eye just to desperately have blue or green eyes. They need to just accept their dark features cause thats what they all naturally have. Now white women like me can have a variety of looks we can have any hair and eye color so anything looks good on us.

No. Don't dye your hair blonde. It'd look awful. Look for a color thats darker.
Well, in the end it's your choice but I think that if you've got naturally dark hair anyway then going to bleached blonde might be a bit dramatic. It'll also cause you hair A LOT of damage, and I mean a lot. Especially 'cause you'll have to keep getting the roots touched up because you'll get a dark line. Your hair won't be in the best condition, and I would imagine you use heated products on it too (straightners, curling tongs, hair dryers etc..)?
Another important thing to remember is the fact that your eyebrows will be dark and it's really unnatural if you've got white-blonde hair with dark eyebrows.
So just think about all that. And by the way, true blonde isn't necessarily Barbie blonde.. it can be quite dark too!
May be you could go for blonde highlights with your natural brown hair or you could just go for a slightly darker blonde?

Buy an ASH blonde hair dye. Light ash blonde would be the best color. Then Shampoo it with Clairol shimmer lights shampoo. It will take the yellow brassy color out.

When you do a corrective hair color all you should have done was the black hair and not the new growth as this would have done what you wanted with the new color but since you tampered with it (the new growth) you will now need two different formulas to succeed. Not being able to see and feel your hair no one can lead you into the right direction.
The reason you probably have two different colors is the top half is (was) your natural color and the bottom half is still growing out the old color. You could get a semi-permanent dye like Natural Instincts in as close a shade as you can to match the bottom half of your hair and put it only on the top. That way you will have all one color hair. You may have to touch it up a few times until you get all the old color grown out, but at least it should all be one color. Good luck! (Just out of curiosity, where do you live that hair color costs $1200?) Do NOT use an ash dye--putting ash on blonde hair turns green!

the sun will lighten the crap out of your hair. it always looked like i had bright blonde highlights, but im a dirty blonde who just spent a lot of time outside!
john frieda and sunsilk make a whole shampoo and conditioning line that will add colorants to your hair. they also have a "glaze" you can leave on your hair for about 5 minutes that will really intesify your color. it makes it bright blonde and usually washes out after 3 shampoo washes (given you only use it once a week, you can use it everyday until you get the color you want.)

I have very light blonde hair...well in some parts at least. There's bleached out parts. My natural hair color is dark brown but for the past 5 years I've been blonde. All I want is a DARKER blonde. Not so beachy and light! Kind of a sandy more towards brown color...Every time I've tried to get my hair done, it's SUPER dark and i end up hating it. I just want a little darker of a blonde kind of like LC on The Hills :)
You need to ask for some skinny-full head allover lowlights. And show them a picture of what you want your result to be.

My sister-in-law who is a hairdresser told me that bleaching takes pigments out of the hair. When you try to put them back in, there isn't anything for the color to hold on to and it'll end up washing out. My suggestion to you would be to pick a color that is really close to your root color and stick with that consistently until all of the bleached hair has grown out and cut off. Then you should be able to keep a darker color on it.
As for it seeming super dark after you get it dyed, try going for a brown instead of dark brown. My color right now is a coppery-brown and I really like it. It's not too dark, but it isn't blond or strawberry-blond either which is what I've been trying to get away from.
i would definately go to a professional so you dont get it messed up but need to match the unerneath of the hair portion and the color cant stay on the bleach as long as the hair roots.

hair stylists can lighten it up for you with some temporary highlights. just tell them what you want!
Use a blonde shampoo like Redken Blonde Glam. It'll brighten the gold tones in your hair. Other than that there is not much you can do with your hair that is apparently turning brown with age without using a salon service. If you go to a salon, and ask them to lighten your hair a level or two with higher volume developer (they'll know what that means) it won't cause as much damage as bleach.
First of all never refer to your hair as dirty blonde. It's ash blonde Try level 2 haircolor to see if that helps. But your best bet is to go to a salon.

Since your hair is blonde and you want to go black, do not use any temporary hair color, hairspray, gel, etc. Black is so concentrated that you might not get your blonde back for awhile and it could be a disaster. So your best bet is to get a wig!!

not at all it washes out in anywhere from 8 - 24 shampoos depending on the process you use (if you sit under a hair dryer or not, if you do it will stay in longer). won't hurt your hair at all
try brown first you can go darker later. if you go dark now, you will be dark until it washes out months later. it won't ruin it but it won't wash out in the next few months.

Use a henna or dye containing the words "TEMPORARY color or WASH OUT color"...that way it WILL come out if you don't like it!

I have light blonde hair, but it's starting to get darker. Now it's a dull blonde. My aunt said she thought she heard somewhere you can lighten blonde hair with vinegar without turning it orange. Does anyone know how to do it?
never heard of vinegar but i do know that if you put hydrogen peroxide in your hair after you wash then let dry that will lighten it. i sometimes do it to bring out my natural highlights if i'm needing a change=D OH %26amp;ITS CHEAP TOO:)
Hey actually vinegar won't work but lemon juice will! Do a mixture that is 3 parts lemon juice and 1 part water and spray it all over your hair, it will lighten it! For even more of an effect go out into the sun...however, don't use sun-in it's terrible for your hair!

I do not recommend using Peroxide, if not done by a professional it can dry your hair so badly that it will literally break off!
After shampooing your hair, rinse well,
than use vinegar mixed with a bit of warm water
and rinse your hair again. Towel dry and do your normal
stuff - blow dry, curling, etc.
Vinegar will give your hair, blond or any other colour a nice
shine, since the vinegar will remove all the build-up residues from your hair, like gels, mousse, hairspray etc.
Now, if you want do lighten your hair, but don't want to use
hair colouring products, simply use 1% peroxide.
You can buy that in any drugstore, price around $1.
If your hair is long, I suggest putting the peroxide in a plastic
spraybottle and spray it all over your WET/DAMP hair.
Make sure you devide the hair, so you get most of it covered
with the peroxide. Wait a few (2-3) minutes and rinse well.
Use a bit of conditioner afterwards and your hair will be
lighter and shineier.
Depends on how light you want your hair do be, you can
do that every time you wash your hair, or whenever you want.
But use the vinegar rinse every time you shampoo.
See what people, your friends, aunt have to say to your
shiny golden hair!
EDIT: don't leave anything in your hair, lemon, peroxide.
both are acidic and will damage your hair over time if left in your hair and not rinsed out. Always use a little conditioner,
not to much and rinse that out too before you style your hair.

i had lovely long natural blonde hair, but i cut it really short about 18 months ago. i have regreted it ever since. its now just below my shoulders and im liking it again now. don't dye your hair and don't cut it off. layers will look great, if you are gonna get a fringe get a soft one at first to see if you like it, if you do go for the side fringe!!!

if you love your hair color then keep it natural unless you want to change it a little by adding highlights. . . and i love long layers you can do so much with long hair, and it looks really pretty when some of it frames your face.

Long layers would look very pretty. The fringe...I dunno about that. But keep your hair natural. Especially if you like it. My friend has natural blonde hair and it looks very pretty. Unless you want highlights. Then that's no problem. But all that matters is what you think would look best.

I love my blond hair and its true blonds have more fun. I get attention everywhere I go and I am not a bubble head. I am educated and have grand children who love my long locks. I am having it cut this summer, about 12 inches for someone to use for a wig. Hopefully for locks of love. I did color my hair brown once and I cried.. quickly I went back to blond. I have no layers its all one length. I can do alot with it.

This way will take some time to show results, about 2 weeks.
From the Pantene or John Freida drugstore brands (I prefer Pantene) they have color enhancing shampoo, conditioner, and hair lotion. It really does make a difference. They have it for blondes, brunettes, redheads, and black hair.
Go out in the sun a lot.
I use Pantene Conditioner in my hair and that after I wash that out in the shower I put in John Frieda color enhancing... after bout 2-3 weeks your hair will start getting lighter and lighter. Aldo squezze a lemon in your hair let it be i your hair for about 5 minuts then go into the shower and ash it out... this all makes your hair lighter
instead of rinsing the shampoo with water rinse it with real lemon juice the go out to the sun! walla it helps i always use it

and also in the summer, mix lemon and warm (almost hot) water 2gether, put it in ur hair, and sit out in the sun for awhile.
Hmm, you cant really do much with out dye. However you can try the old lemon trick. Just take a bit of lemon juice and run it threw your hair before you go out in the sun. It will dry your hair out a little though, but will make it allot lighter! You can also try buying one of those color enhancing hair shampoo's that help keep your hair shiny and bright. I have naturally blonde hair myself and i use Sun silk color boost for blonde hair. It actually makes my hair lighter and helps it shine in the sun!

well i have naturally brown hair and i got blonde highlights 2 times buts its do damage at all.when i got my 1st highlights nothing happened cause they put color but then my second time they used bleach NOT color so now my hair has been dried out since.but if u get highlights tell them to use color

You can spritz lemon into your hair and spend some time out in the sun to brighten it up. John Frieda's Blonde Colour Glaze is also nice, but beware if you should have greasy hair.
I have always bleached my hair blonde from the age of 15. I usually go to the hairdressers and have foil highlights put through (lots of foils) to make my hair blonde.
I recently got bored and decided to do an all over bleach by buying one from a shop. Its come out a fantastic platinum blonde but where the roots are it hasn't taken so is kind of yellow.
Baring in mind i have left the bleach on for about an hour.
Does anyone know of a toner to get rid of yellow tones? x x
actually for this you need to do a protein treatment. most people don't know to do this. you need to apply a neutral protein filler on your roots leave in for 20 mins then try to re pull the color that's if you want the platinum blonde.
also before you do this again like before you do your roots make sure you do the protein again. it pulls differently because your hair neer your roots are alot more healthy then the hair under it. also you just damaged your hair alot! go condition it really well.

I had an experience years ago where I used a temporary black rinse and months later put a lightener over it. Black has a green base...needless to say, my hair did not turn blond. It turned lighter, but with a greenish tinge.
Not to mention all the damage that lightening can do to your hair if not done properly.
You may not get the exact results you want right away...going from black to blonde is a long road.
If a professional is out of your budget, try a local beauty school. Their prices are more reasonable and your hair would be a great learning experience for the students.

once you have applied black in your virgin hair you wont be able to get the exact result of colour wat u r execpecting for so you have to prelighten your hair and then deposit the colour pls try to use the proffesional produts.
It will not come out blonde if you die it with the black. You have to bleach it first and then dye it blonde

Black is a very difficult color to work with and remove.
Even if you try to reverse it, it will not only weaken your hair or cause breakage, but you could get a decidely blue shade to your blonde hair and no, it will not reverse to your own color.
Here's my suggestion: Snip a small sample of hair from the nape of your neck and color it black. Lay it on your forehead after it is processed and dry to see if you like it. If you don't no harm done. But if you do then you will have to wait until the black grows out to get the true blonde back.
I've done this before. To tell you the truth, when I dyed it black, it never went back to being as light of a blonde as I wanted. I dyed it black first; I wasn't happy with it, so I had to dye it a medium to light brown, and then three months later dye it back to a dark blonde. I wished I never dyed it black in the first place...
So unless you are 100% sure it will look good on you, don't waste your time.
U should dye ur hair a lighter color
Hi there. Use a semi permanent color (level 2). Don't use a level 3. Blonde is very hard to get (must bleach hair) after you dye your hair black. It can be done, but your hair is going to feel like straw afterwards. I went dark black from blonde and loved it! Now I have the salon dye it darkest brown and put a mahongany red gloss over the top at the bowl. My hair looks dark in the shade and red in the sun. Love it!
do not try because once u do it the blue dye will sink into your roots and if you dye it back you will have blond hair and blue roots do you want to look like that...... i don't think so

Ok first what happens is this: Dying hair darker with permanent hair color actually chemically changes your hair. You will need red pigment in your hair to prevent it from going green, then add the blue black color. Red pigment is not in blond hair, but is in darker hair.
What you need to understand is that going the other direction is difficult. You will need to bleach your hair or let it grow out. Red pigment is the smallest color in any hair and difficult to remove. Bleaching dark to light uses stronger peroxide and can probably damage your hair and make it become jelly.
I actually do not recommend lightening dark hair to light at all, it just does not look right, and it may go orange. The orange will have traces of red pigment, and lightening more to get rid of it can damage your hair.
However if you do want to try blue black, try semi permanent which does not chemically change your hair. You may need to have your hair red semi-permanent first, then apply the blue black color. Semi permanents wash out after about 6 to 8 washes, depending on your hair.
A safer way is to go to a wig shop and try on a wig (but don't buy it) to see what blue black looks like on you. This way you can decide whether to have color or not.
I recommend that you let a hairdresser do it to get the best results, after that it should be OK to do it on your own, just watch what they do to study the process.

Yes, my roots are darker than the rest of my hair and so is the layer underneath, towards my neck.
When I was smaller my hair was almost bleached blonde it was very light. But over the years it got darker and darker and in the winter it looks almost completely brown and in the summer it gets blonder with some very light streaks in it due to the sun bleaching it. I don't color my hair at all and never have.

i have pretty light blonde hair, and my roots are a little bit darker, but not like, drastically darker. it may be because if you're in the sun a lot, your hair will lighten, and the light doesn't hit that part of your hair.

sorry, the only way you are gonna get highlights is using color or bleach. the shampoos for color are only to enhance the color you have or have done.
