I have naturally light blonde hair. I have very thin hightlights and they've grown out. My roots are light brown! I never want my hair to be brown. Is there a reason my hair has turned brown? My mom says it's only temporary, but I think she's telling me that to make me feel better. Is it because i'm going through puberty or something? And, will my hair ever turn blonde again??? HELP!!!!

Most people's hair gets darker as they get older (until you start turning gray and the process reverses itself). I was blonde as a little girl and have medium brown hair now. Like you, I was mortified and wanted to stay blonde forever. I have been highlighting my hair to various shades of blonde since I was 13 (20 years!).

Maybe your mom is right, but I kinda doubt it. If you want to stay blonde, get more highlights or get out in the sun and let it highlight your hair naturally.

funny, im actually a natural blonde.

I had artificial darker hair and then I bleached it like a month ago and it didnt go light enough so I bleached it again today. I had bought a blonde ash colour to go afterwards but on the box where it shows samples of "if your colour is this, it will be this" it shows the dye as something that will lighten the hair. Problem is, my hair is gonna be white when i take the bleach out, so will that hair dye have any effect? I mean, it wont get any lighter and what I had intended was for a blonde dye that would look more natural. Am I making any sense?

first of all lightening hair is tricky and you should not try to do it at home. if you have coloured over your natural light hair to something darker, going blonde again is actually considered 'colour correction' and should definetely be done in a salon.

that being said since you've already started - after you bleach your hair and are left with pale yellow (the lightest you should go is pale yellow - if you bleach it out to white then it is no longer hair and will probably fall out) you need to 'tone' it with another colour. you should not be using a high volume peroxide based colour to do this such as the one you have that shows lightening of the hair. this will add so much damage to your (hopefully not white) already too light hair. take it back to the store and stop. go to the salon to get some protein treatments to strengthen it up and get a semi-permanent colour put over it that does not 'lighten' with high volume peroxide. Like a gloss. Semi-permanents act like permanent colour on bleached hair.

I would stop everything and go to a salon right now, you are going to have heaps of hair falling out. do not put in a light blonde dye over your already bleached-too-much head. you just need a gloss (and mega-treatments)

BY THE WAY - if you use an ash on your hair that is not the correct level (IE: if your hair is too light for the colour) it will LOOK GREEN. the base of ash colours is green - they cut out all red tones. you should find something that says 'natural' as they will have red, blue and yellow in them which makes a natural sandy blonde with no brassiness and no green tinge. you need TO GO TO THE SALON!!

When a box shows that it can lighten darker hair, it only if your hair is naturally that color. Color can not lighten color. The one thing that I'm worried about is that you have bleached your hair a lot lately and when you put on that dye you are going to do more damage then you need to. You only need a color that deposits not lifts since you are going a little darker. Hair color that only deposits is about 100 times easier on your hair. I would suggest taking that box back and getting one with out the lifting agent. I hope this helps good luck!

I have dyed blonde hair which was looking a little brassy so tonight i used a toner which REFRESHES and BRIGHTENS dull blonde hair and hilites.....yeah right!!! So right now my hair is a weird horrible dull colour....it isn't that drastic..def fixable....i have used home high lift tints before, for example garnier nutrisse and was wondering if anyone else has any suggestions on how to get rid as i am about to drive to Asda and get me some dye!!! Why oh why do i never learn?? Any suggestions much appreciated...no time for professional salon, never get an appointment and can't be sitting like this at xmas time!!!! Thanks xxxx

Get a cellofane (can't spell) rinse. Its usually clear and will semi permenantly gloss your color.

if its looking like it has a green tinge, try combing tomato ketchup through it- leave for 5 or 10 mins then rinse out, strange but works.

If its looking copper insted of blond, its cos your hair is too dark to be bleached at home and a salon is really your only option, as ideally you need a stronger bleach/peroxide through your hair, try it at home and if you dont get the stregnth right, it goes yellowy copper or falls out.

never use any garnier products as they ruin your hair, if you're going out to get another dye get a clairol one as they have great conditioning, i'm naturally blonde but i used to dye my hair and tried lots of diff ones an i found clairol the best

olay what happened is you toned it down and violet is the color that reduces orange of brassy colors.

Just start all over again by using light ash blonde by Loreal. If you run into trouble you can also call the Clairol color help line on every box of dye-this has helped me in the past.

I am all gray/white and use the Loreal hair color and it is really nice -not brassy at all and lasts the longest.

ignore them all try this..i did it last week and it really did work.

get 3 lemons and squeeze them then mix it into citrus scented hair conditioner put it all over your head wrap in clingfilm dry with hairdryer til crispy,then remove clingfilm and dry some more til dry.takes ages but....

then rinse completely and shampoo and sdry stly as normal.its amazing.i went blonde but ended up brassy so i put ash blonde on and went blue,green purple and grey!!!!!it took it all out and my colour is lovely now.

Don't wreck your hair with bleach! The toner will be best designed for natural hair or dyed hair which is in good condition (rare). The more cr ap you put on your hair, the worse it'll look.

iv'e dyed my hair recently{its a DARK brown} but, i use loreal dye that comes with two boxes i got it @ walmart and it worked rlly good. while i was there i saw a gorgeous blond it was kind of a medium blond it was almost in the lighter category of a blond. hope this helped!!!! :P

try putting a few different colours of blondes in like honey, caramel and a realllly light brown that will make it more blonde, you can buy highlighting kits from superdrugs most probably any store like tescos. But dont go OTT otherwise you will just look like someone with every colour in they're hair.

I used to do the strawberry blonde, from a box. The red color washes out really quick, this is characteristic of all reds - something about the red molecule being the largest, I'm not a chemist, w/e. This doesn't matter if you go to a salon or a box, the red color will always fade the quickest.

**back to mixing dyes: It is possible to buy two different shades, but they need to be the same brand. You would prep both dyes together in the same container. However, it does take some "color math". For example, a copper blonde would have red in it with some yellow (blonde), if you were to mix a copper blonde with a golden blonde (lots of yellow), you would end up with bright orange. But if you mixed a copper blonde with an ash blonde, the ash blonde isn't that yellow, so the result would not be bright orange.

Also, with the strawberry blonde, I found that over time, the red would fade fastest. So, if I dyed my faded hair with another strawberry blonde, the color would end up very orange, or pink. This is why you may want to consider going to a stylist. Strawberry blonde is such a delicate mix of reds and yellow, it can go bad so easily. It's different than dying brown hair brown...

Also, some tips to keep your color from fading:

- don't dye your hair directly after showing, wait a day or too , grease helps the color stick

- wash your hair with cooler water when you rinse the dye out (hot water accelerates fadeage)

- wear a hair tuban after your shower, it's a lot more gentle than rubbing your hair with a towel

- try to minimize blowdrying and straightening your hair - these dry out your hair and fade the color

- avoid shampooing daily, shampoo every second day and condition daily...moisturized hair keeps color better.

you may want to have it professionally dyed that color. Usually my hair turns orange when I dye it blonde myself, and the only way I get true blonde colors are from going to a salon. I hope that helps :) It would look awesome!

Go to Sally's Beauty Supply. They have color that is closer to what professionals use and it takes out a lot of the guesswork. The people that work there are trained and they'll help you pick out what you need. Also, you should get a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair so that the color doesn't fade as fast, because any color with red tones fades faster than other colors.
