Blonde hair and going swimming and in the sun on holiday....?

My hair is bleached blonde but with some fine light brown streaks through it. I'm going on holiday to Majorca and will be in the pool (but don't tend to put my head under the water!!) and in the sunshine lots, can anyone recommend a spray or something to use on my hair during the day that will protect against UV from the sun and stop chlorine in the pool damaging my hair?

when ever i am in the sun on holiday i coat my hair in a rich conditioner and comb through, it just looks like your hair is wet but it protects you hair in the sun

Lemon juice and Sun-in are both VERY drying to the hair...plus with sun-in it leaves your hair looking like you need a touch up...do some highlights with a color 4-6 levels lighter than your natural hair, not bleach, ..this looks more like natural hair, which is never the same color all over...Good Luck

Your in luck! Going from a very light color to a darker color is easy... the only way your hair will turn green is if you use both colors the same day or within, i'd say a week from each other. You're treading in scary water with this one. Okay, first....if your hair is damaged, and I'm sure it is with the Plat blonde color, take 2 weeks and condition the hell out of it. I use Garnier Nutriesse...because of the avocado oil...very good for your hair. After you color your hair...again condition the hell out of it. Then leave it alone for as long as possible.

Black hair dye is very hard to get rid of. If you have had your hair stripped twice and you are still a brown color, then the black hair dye took VERY well.

If your hairdresser has told you that he/she cannot get you blonde, then I would trust his/her opinion. i would heed the advise of your hairdresser... did you forget she went through extensive training in hair cutting and in color? she knows what shes doing and if she doesnt want to color it again theres a good reason... i bet your hair is probably fried and if she uses anymore bleach, it will fry it out 10 times more...(and will end up in the sink when she rinses it out!) i would stay using a professional product called CAT... its protein infused and it will strengthen your hair.. be advised that you cannot use heat on your hair as the protien will fall out of your hair follicles causing it to be useless. if you use CAT and a leave-in conditioner with absolutely not blow-drying, curling irons, or flat irons for 6 months, your hair will be much much healthier. im sure then she would be able to lighten your hair more without much risk of losing hair and it will also look more beautiful and not ashy toned because of unhealthy hair. if this is too long of a process for you, you have two choices: find another hairstylist that will do it for you and risk losing your hair or start loving the brown that you have...

i dont want a huge difference, but i want a slightly lighter shade at the back and the roots. when should i use the juice? before or after i take a shower? if i have oily hair should i wash it first? does the hair have to be wet?

one last thing, should i mix the lemon juice with anything else? ive heard that u can mix it with all sorts of stuff to make it work better

Wow! I didn't know people still did this. I did try it when I was younger and it lightened my hair a little. Don't take a shower first. Squeeze the lemon juice onto slightly damp hair and then lay out in the sun. I would check your hair after 30 minutes and see if it is working. Wash out once hair is lightened.

I also brushed on hydrogen peroxide with a comb. You only use a little and use a comb so it looks like natural highlights. I wouldn't go into the sun with peroxide on my hair or it might get too light very quickly. You can blow dry it and then wash your hair immediately after you achieve the desired effects. Be careful when doing this and don't leave it on too long. Sun In also works like hydrogen and you just spray it in your hair and blow it dry.

I have also heard of mixing 1/4 cup strong chamomile tea with 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1 tbsp honey.

I think the best thing to do is go and buy a cheap highlighting kit at the store and have a friend brush in some highlights. If done correctly, this will give you the best results.

once in high school i put peroxide in my brothers hair spray, it as when he had a job at the park for the summer. he got a white hair in one spot and thought it was just from the sun....

Lemon Juice will lighten your hair, but just becarefull because b/c it's so high in acid it can burn and dry your hair. If you decide to do it mix the lemmon juice with leave in conditioner aply it leave it on for a while but avoid the sun while it is on you. do this once a week and your hair will lighten and it will not be damaged!

My mom has blonde hair and used to do this. She would put it on while wet and still standing in the shower (no water running) she would let it sit for a minute. Now I have done that, I have dark brown hair and it did change it lighter and gave it a pretty red tint (not orange). You apply it to dry hair and go sit in the sun for about 1/2-1 hour or blow dry it (heat). Not sure how this works on blonde hair. But now my mom uses Sun In and it lightens her hair nicely. You can get this at any drug store in hair care section and its fairly cheap.

You can get proucts that willl protect your hair when you straighten it, just shop around until you find one that works for you, or you could blow dry it straight, but you'd need products to protect your hair in that case, too. Also, you could get a light relaxer, or get it done at the salon. Good luck...

P.S. You can tell from the pic that her hair is naturally curly, and she either flat ironed it, or got it chemically straightened

yea i agree, if you don't want to straighten you hair you won't get that look, but there is a product called sunsilk straighten up that i use and it works awesome, also for frizz use frizzease, but if u use these product use in moderation if hair is short or it will look greezy, just blow dry using your hand as a brush, use cool air halfway throguht that will help with frizz, that should do the trick

i basically asked my hairdresser to put loads of layers in

shortish on top then getting longer.

then the bottoms kinda long.

i straighten the bottom bit but not really on the layers, only to curve them in towards my head.

clip up half the layers, backcomb the bottom layers, let the top layers down, backcomb those.

its bad in that pic but usually it looks kinda round.

and big.

so be prepared to be mistaken for amy winehouse =/
