I really wanted to put a streak of black in my blonde hair. Naturally I have golden blonde hair but it's dyed lighter to almost platinum with peroxide and then I have bleach highlights and some darker blonde lowlights. So I wanted to put like a black streak in my hair over my eyes (kinda like an emo look) and my mom said it woulnd't turn out like I wanted it and would look like some crappy color. Well I wanted to know what would happen if I decided to dye my hair black? This is something I always wanted to do.

no no no! not unless you want the mother of all bad hair days.Let your hair rest from the peroxides, just use a protein enricher and then test a little bit .

Dye the section of hair red first - dry it - then dye it black. Your moms right it would turn out a crappy colour if you put black dye straight onto blonde - but if you put the red on first it`ll turn out great. I`ve just done this to my daughters hair and it looks really good!
Go for it!!!!

If you use a permanent hair colour it will go black, but if you use a wash out one it will turn a dingy colour. The problem with dying any colour over beach is that it will fade quicker than normal, but we're talking 6 weeks or so. I have died my hair plenty of times from bleach blonde to black, and plenty of colours in between. Your mum however may be worried about the condition your hair will be in after all those treatments, so you need to get an intensive conditioner to counteract the problem. As the person above says, red is the best colour on black, so if you use a black hairdye with red tones you will get the best effect, if you use one without it could turn out green looking and will fade to a dirty greyish brown, with a red toned black it will fade to a reddish brown.

You should let your hair rest for awhile, it may be so damaged that it might not take anymore color to it (like others said, it could turn green.) However, black is an easy dark color to dye with (not easy to remove!) You may be able to put a black protein filler in your hair (can be purchased at Sally's) which will help your hair to hold the black dye better.
Try to nurture it a bit first before experimenting, though.

It won't look nice, you may end up looking the same colour as a Skunk. So please don't do it, can't you get some false hair that you can clip in?

hey im a hairdresser and i would reccommend you go to the salon to get it done because your needs to be pre pigmented first so the black wouldnt turn green and so you could have the colour washed out properly so that the black doesnt run into the rest and make it all wishy washy but i think you should get it done chick it will look cool! if you have always wanted to do it then do it! but if you dont like it it could be a task to get it back to the blonde colour again and could be damaging but hey hair grows! hope i helped x

When your hair is bleached the cuticle is blown and it becomes very porous. The pigment you put in it comes out very quickly.
When your hair is bleached or colored to the point of being white it is considered "unpigmented hair". You not only have to put your target color (which is black) on it. You also have to replace all of the pigments that are in naturally black hair. Believe it or not, that means red and orange. Putting those colors in first is called "filling the hair" to prepare it for a "tint back". A tint back is when you fill bleached out hair with the pigment that is missing in natural hair.
So, the steps to take would be sectioning off the hair you are coloring, put a barrier on the white hair so it won't grab any of the color, fill the hair with gold, orange and red filler, put the black color of your choice on and process. You have to be very careful when you rinse and shampoo that pigment doesn't run onto the porous white hair and tinge it gray. Rinse with cold water and use a color seal to help avoid this. good luck
