How can brown hair get blonde roots if your natural color is brown?

I have natural brown hair with some red in it(natural). The front of my bangs (right where it parts in the middle) is blonde at the roots and goes down my bangs a little. It goes down more it seems by the week. My oldest daughter has the same thing. Her hair is a sandy blonde to light brown but her bangs are pure bright blonde(where mine is) What can make it do that? It is nowhere else. And no it has never been dyed. I had blonde hair when I was little, it changed to brown when I was 4 and started getting the red a few years ago. Just find it odd that my daughter has it to.

the same thing happens to me, especially in the summer (I don't know if this is the case with you) which leads me to believe it is a natural highlight from the sun.

Because of the time of year, hair quite often gets lighter. Mine does the same thing, then darkens again in autumn and winter. If your hair does this, then you have nothing to worry about, but if it is always lightening, I have no explanation.

If it's lighter at the roots and darker on the ends, it sounds like you may have iron in your water. It can darken a persons hair. If you have city water, then it isn't supposed to have iron in it..(IT still does) I know from experience. Another way to tell if your water has iron in it is that you will be using a lot of conditioner and your hair will feel dry or brittle. If you ever get a perm while washing your hair in this water the solution will turn purple, dark purple, but your hair won't. Most of the time I can smell iron in a persons hair. If it isn't iron in your water, then it is some other mineral/chemical doing this.

The color of your roots is the natural color of your hair. the roots have not been exposed to the water as much as your ends have, therefore they are lighter. Iron will also add quite a bit of weight to your hair as well.

The iron needs to be stripped off and then under all that deposit will be your beautiful hair. Your beautiful hair is still there,,just coated.
