Dying dyed blonde hair lighter blonde?

I have dyed blonde hair, that is warm but still in the medium to light range. I have light brown roots growing in, and I can't afford to get my hair fixed professionally, so do you think that if I use a light blondde dye on my hair that it will lighten the all-over color? I'm going to do my roots to match after, I just want my hair lighter.

i would never recommend using grocery store color. if anything check out your local beauty supply store. but, in the end, color cannot lift color. the only thing you can do to lift already-colored hair is by bleaching. i would suggest coloring your regrowth the same as your color is now, then give it a little time and get it professionally lightened.

My suggestion is to never, ever mess with blonde hair color. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Very often I've tried to figure out the right formula for doing my own, and I found out the hard way: there's a reason that stylists and colorists go to school for this - it's hard!

You wouldn't perfom at-home surgery, right?

Go to a salon. If you can't afford it, hang in there until you can. You'll make it much, much worse and won't be able to do a thing about it!

If you insist on doing your own hair, let it grow out first.
