Dying Bleach Blonde Hair to a Light Brown?

I would like to know of peoples experience when dying their bleach blonde hair to a light brown.. When I was younger I had bleach blonde hair and when I went to the salon to have it dyed dark brown again, they advised that a red based toner/colour needs to be applied first as the bleach has stripped all the pigment from my hair and if a brown were to be applied directly over, it could turn green.. They applied the red, then the dark brown and it looked great.

Older, i bleached my hair again, and i am wanting to convert to brown again, but not so dark this time.. I would like a light brown rather dark brown.

My question is, for this time, after putting the red rinse in, will a light brown hair take OK - am worried the red will bleed through too much..

I would LOVE to go to salon again but simply just cannot afford it..

No no I'm pretty sure you need a toner/rinse especially with bleached hair, but what about a copper coloured toner rather than red?

I've never tried it but it's just a suggestion.

Good luck! =)

Be careful! You may end up

with bright orange. Just go to

a friendly neighborhood

salon and ask a beautician

what you plan to do. She will

tell you what would probably

happen.

You must use the red first even though you want it a lighter brown.Do not put brown right over your hair, you will wind up with green hair,or even a grayish green. If you don't put the red back in your hair the base color of the brown is what you will get. It all has to do with the color wheel. RED+GREEN= BROWN.
