it took me a long time to achieve the light-golden-blonde colour that i currently have
i now have dark-brown roots (eeeek!) and i've bought a blonde dye to touch the roots up, and to boost my blonde
i'm worried that my roots will turn orange, and the rest of my hair will be a light blonde colour
this will look stupid
any tips?
thanks [:
Blonde hair; tips for touching up the regrowth?
if your hair is dark brown then an OTC colour will do nothing- you will be lucky to get orange! you need to use bleach instead of using colour on top of colour on top of colour, you will ruin your hair with weighing it down with colours and each new colour you put on will "muddy" the other- hence why people often turn a lovely shade of green. you will need to bleach and then tone, you know where you are with bleach- you can get the colour you want WITHOUT damaging your hair as long as you are sensible with it and don't overlap onto previously coloured hair or try and bleach to white (which is a no, no) pale yellow is the furthest that ANYBODY should ever bleach to. here is a swatch list from miss clairol by clairol: http://www.clairolprofessional.com/dispe... if you are light golden blonde and wish to stay this colour then use 12G2 blondest gold.

Don't know the exact colour of your hair so it's difficult, but i use B Blonde by Jerome Russel.......it's quite a bright blonde but you could always darken it with another kit??

*You know you can always use those root touch up kits from the department stores, and that seems to be the "cheap" "easy" solution to touch up your roots. However if you really want great results, I highly suggest that you go and have a professional stylist touch up your hair. Yeah sure it may seem like a waste of money to go to a stylist just to touch up your roots, when you could do it yourself for far less money right? Well sure....but on the other hand, if your hair doesn't end up turning the color you want it to, even with that root touch up kit...then you might be inclined to go out and buy another kit from the store...and essentially you might just wind up spending just as much money on all of those kits as you would have if you just went and had the stylist do it for you ONE TIME :):) Do you see my point?
.Then again, I screwed up my hair so many times trying to do it myself..which is why I now will go to the salon for all of my hair needs and touch ups. I have highlights...so I figure, it's in my best interest to not do it myself.
.Anyways...you can try the root touch up kits from the store, but if your hair turns an icky copper or yellow blonde color...it's not going to look too cute. So I highly recommend that you seek a stylist to do it, sure it costs a little more...but in the long run...it will be done once and it will be done right. Besides they know hair....and what type of bleach to use on your hair to match your color(s).
**Good luck.!
