Dying hair. Medium Brown to Light Blonde..?

I used to have blonde hair for 4-5 years. At the end of 2006 I decided to go back to my natural color, but now I hate it. It's too plain. Instead of going back to the pale blonde I was at, I just want to go to a light blonde.

I went to Sally's and the lady told me to first bleach it with this stuff called Super Blue Creme Oil Lightener, mixed with a 20 volume developer. After that, I will need to dye it with Ion - Very Light Blonde hair color, mixed with 20 volume developer. Will this work?

The lady before her (who didn't seem to know what she was talking about) told me to just dye it with the 30 volume developer along with the dye. No bleaching. It's been so long since I've dyed my hair, I've forgotten how! lol.

I don't know anything about hair colours - but I like you brunnette! Don't go blonde, brunette is gorgeous on you! Haha!
